In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, WIN Warehouse nonprofit members quickly mobilized to provide residents of North Carolina with essential resources. We’re proud of how our community stepped up to meet immediate needs and contribute to ongoing recovery efforts. We stand with them and will provide continued support as the region rebuilds and restores what has been lost. Together, these collective actions demonstrate the powerful impact of unity when disaster strikes.
Here is how three nonprofit organizations are making a difference.
Convoy of Hope
Since Convoy of Hope was established in 1994, humanitarian aid has been delivered to hurting people in more than 130 countries. The nonprofit organization currently serves communities by empowering women, feeding kids, and helping farmers yield larger crops. From Springfield, Missouri, Convoy of Hope sends truckloads of food and relief supplies to cities and rural towns. Convoy trucks travel coast to coast, delivering goods used for events and disaster responses.
Immediately after becoming a WIN member in early 2024, they began distributing truckloads of inventory to communities in need. To assist in relief efforts, they picked up several items at WIN and donated them to first responders and volunteers in North Carolina, including heavy-drum liners to help with debris removal and cases of overboots to protect those wading through floodwaters.
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1402
The first chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) opened in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1953 to aid and assist amateur aircraft builders. Since then, they have grown into an international organization that promotes all facets of recreational aviation education and safety. EAA Chapter 1402, based in Sullivan, Missouri, empowers local recreational aviators and aviation buffs by hosting events, workshops, and educational programs where individuals passionate about aircraft can share their knowledge and inspire others to participate within the community.
To meet the diverse needs of those impacted by the hurricanes in North Carolina, they gathered a truckload of essential items from WIN Warehouse. They contributed pallets of tools, Tyvek suits, box fans, socks, paper goods, insect repellent, blankets, first aid kits, generators, and water pumps.
The Goodness Project
Founded in 1999, The Goodness Project is an international nonprofit relief organization headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, with distribution centers in America, Canada, and Israel. They help families affected by natural disasters, children living in poverty, and individuals rebuilding their lives after trauma.
By shopping at WIN Warehouse, they are able to pick up much-needed supplies for those in crisis. Since joining in 2021, they have received pallets of toys, safety equipment, office supplies, and much more. Most recently, they purchased wire shelving, which is being used in North Carolina to elevate items above floodwaters, and a truckload of trash cans to assist with the massive cleanup.
