At WIN Warehouse, we believe schools should have access to the supplies and resources they need to help students learn, explore their interests, and develop new skills. One of our longtime nonprofit members, Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, is doing just that by providing students with opportunities to pursue their creative passions.
We’re proud to support the school’s mission by making essential supplies and educational materials more affordable.
Their Mission
Central Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) High School is a magnet high school in south St. Louis City within the St. Louis Public Schools District. Fully accredited through the Missouri Department of Education, the school combines traditional academics with specialized instruction in the visual and performing arts.
The school’s history dates back to 1853, when it opened as Central High School. Historians say it was the first co-ed high school in St. Louis. They relocated several times, including after a tornado struck in 1927. Central High School officially merged with Visual and Performing Arts High School in 1984 to form one magnet school.
CVPA High School students can graduate with coursework geared toward one of three majors:
- Visual Art – ceramics, drawing and painting, multimedia design
- Musical Art – instrumental and vocal
- Performing Arts – dance and theater
As required by Missouri law, students also complete courses in math, English, science, social studies, and other subjects.
WIN Warehouse’s Impact
Since becoming a WIN member in 2016, CVPA High School has found a wide variety of affordable products to support its classrooms, arts programs, and everyday operations.
Katheryn Williams, who works in facilities at the school, visits the WIN Warehouse showroom about once a month. She often picks up items for the theater department, like air cleaners and work gloves for students who are building and painting sets. On one occasion, she even found several large art portfolios for seniors.
In the showroom, Katheryn also received:
- Cleaning liquids, brooms, and mops
- Flashlights, first aid kits, safety glasses, and hand tools
- Acrylic paint sets, highlighters, and markers
- Sketch pads, blank canvases, and books
Additionally, she’s ordered online:
- Filing cabinets and chairs
- Air conditioners, vacuums, and microwaves
- Paper goods, face masks, and trash bags
- Roller skates and pallets of toys and games
