Anyone who has ever been involved in filing for nonprofit status with the IRS knows that the process can be exasperating. Indeed, filing often requires the guidance of tax attorneys who specialize in the nonprofit sector. As of July 1, the IRS is trying to streamline that process with a simpler form.
According to the IRS Press Release, up to 70% of all applicants will be eligible to use the new Form 1023-EZ. At 3 pages long, the new form is sure to be a welcomed tool over the standard 26-page form.
